Warm Up

Do you have any questions/concerns about any of the work we are doing in this class? (Discovery Log, Midterm Portfolio, About Me Project, Online Exhibit, etc.)
-
Did you have any difficulty writing the About Me Genre Proposal #2?
-
Lastly, in your own words, explain what genre means.
About Me Workshop
Part 1
For this first part of the workshop, pick one of the genres you are considering in your About Me Genre Proposal #2. Begin creating your About Me project through using this genre. Remember, the genres you propose must be online!

Part 2
Write a mini reflection on the following:
-
How did this genre practice work out for you? Did you have trouble working on this genre? Was it easy for you? What difficulties do you think you will have if you continue working on this genre?
-
What are some choices you had to make? How did you decide to display your information? How did you make decisions based on what you want your audience to see first?
-
Lastly, based on your practice using this genre, what are some things you will have to consider if you were to use the other genre?
Work this reflection into your About Me Genre Proposal and turn this new draft into the Blackboard Discussion Forum: About Me Genre Proposal #3 by Tuesday, February 28 by 11:59pm.
Looking Ahead...
Wednesday:
We will be working on our Discovery Log so be sure to have Discovery Log #7 completed. You do not have to have all 4 sources already picked but the template should be completed.

Friday:
We will be working on another Portfolio Practice session. Remember, these Friday sessions are crucial since they are leading up to the Midterm Portfolio.
Homework
A) Read the following:
-
ACRL's Framework for Information Literacy (located in Blackboard>Readings)
-
Information Creation as a Process (p. 5)
-
Information Has Value (p. 6)
-
-
We will be using these readings for our warm up/group discussions on Wednesday. As you are reading, make sure to highlight and takes notes on what you find interesting, confusing, and/or connections. I am not assigning a Reading Response so make sure you read to be able to contribute in your groups on Wednesday.

B) Complete your Discovery Log #7 for Wednesday's class.

C) We will have a Portfolio check on Friday. I will be checking your online folders where you should have all the work you have done for this class. (Warm Up; Reading Responses; Reflections; Discovery Log entries; etc.) If you have been adding to online folders regularly, great! If not, make sure to get your folders organized!

D) Make sure to have your update About Me Proposal #3 turned in by Tuesday night.
