Getting to Know Each Other

Let's play a game!

A) Name

B) Major

C) Where are you from?

D) Answer a question on the beach ball!

A Bit About Me...

  • I started here, at TAMUCC, as a First-Year, back in 2008. I changed my major about 3x. I graduated in 2014 with a double major in English and Spanish. I then entered the English graduated program in Fall 2014.

  • I started tutoring in Fall 2015 at our CASA Writing Center before becoming a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) in Fall 2016. I graduated with my M.A. in Summer 2017 and I became an adjunct. I now teach as a PAP!

    • My focus in graduate school was primarily in gender studies, trauma literature, and writing.

Other things...

  • I love writing and researching! I am also very passionate about my teaching and helping my students learn.

  • I love to read and I am doing pretty good on my Goodreads challenge.

  • I have a slight obsession with gold, anything that glitters, sharks, and my two wonderful dogs!

    • Read class syllabus and class webpage

    • Create online folder using the screencast I emailed to your Islander email!

    • Do the reading for Wednesday's class (see point A)

  • Reading Response #1 (due 9/1 by midnight)

  • Introductory Letter (due 9/4 by class time)

    • Complete your letter introducing yourself to me and your peers. This is a low-stakes informal piece of writing and will be a part of your engagement and participation grades for this class. So, don't stress about this assignment, but complete it to the best of your abilities and make sure that you are always putting your best foot forward. It is mostly a way for me to get to know you, and a way for me to gauge your goals, understandings, beliefs, and opinions about writing and history. â€‹

      • This letter should cover 3 subjects:

        • Information introducing and describing yourself,

        • Your understanding of what writing is, what research is, and what past experiences you have had with writing and research (positive, negative, etc.).

        • Your understanding of what history is and what your past experiences with history.
