C. Some Things...

-
be sure you have links on a document for any online delivery systems
-
be sure to have EVERYTHING in your folder; including midterm items
-
-
create a GSD list of things you have to get done
-
look at the grade breakdown under the Assignments & Due Dates tab
-
-
Be sure to reference your Intersections mind map but it is malleable.
-
As you progress through research, your choices will change and that is ok!
-
If you are struggling with what genre to create, talk to me. I have spoken to several people but not everyone...
-
Be sure that whichever genre you decide to do in some way represents the research you have done and the purpose of Intersections project! What specific change are you advocating for? What action are you seeking?
Genre #1 Peer Review
Remember that your projects should:
-
Advocate, organize, and/or promote some kind of change through writing. Think of how your intersections project demonstrates Courage, Conviction, and Composition.
-
Demonstrate your ability to analyze rhetorical situations in order to identify options and make appropriate choices that will enable you to use writing to achieve specific purposes
-
Demonstrate their ability to locate, read, evaluate, select, use, and effectively integrate information from appropriate sources with your own ideas
-
Demonstrate control of situation-appropriate conventions of writing.

Always ask yourself/Questions for Feedback:
-
How does what I am about to write/compose/create help me achieve my purposes?
-
How does what I am about to write/compose/create help me reach my audience?
-
How does what I am about to write/compose/create demonstrate that I have a clear and distinct understanding of who my audience is?
-
How does the language I am using demonstrate that I have a clear and distinct understanding of who my audience is?
-
How does the formatting, diction, content I am using demonstrate I am engaging in a particular genre?
-
How does what I am writing/composing/creating demonstrate that I am making specific choices to achieve specific purposes instead of just using a format/medium/delivery system to write a paper in disguise?

-
Consider every question you have learned to use in this class while you are writing/composing/creating these drafts.

Genre #1 Peer Review
You will peer review Genre #1 from fellow classmates. This should be a solid draft. Doesn't have to be complete, just something worth peer reviewing.

Upload the link to your genre to the Blackboard Discussion forum: Genre #1.
Focus on the following. Also, be sure to give a solid peer review. A lot of the peer reviews before the midterm were lacking. Most did not have a "because" clause or address more than one question. If you do not provide a substantial feedback response, I will not count it as your process work for that genre.

Pick 3 statements to give feedback on. Copy the questions and respond to the thread of the person you are peer reviewing. Underneath each question, write your response. Include a "because" clause for each response.

1. Who do you think the audience is?
2. Where is the research located in the genre?
3. Does the writer show care for the reader?
4. How is the genre appropriate for meeting the needs of the audience?
5. Where/How does the writer meet requirements of the genre conventions/rules? (think: what we expect from that particular type of writing)
6. In what ways does the writer create knowledge through writing?
7. Do the visuals and conventions match the situation the writer is in?
Final Portfolio Workshop
For the remainder of class, work on your Final Portfolio!
Be sure that you are also working on Genre #1 Justification.
-
What is your genre?
-
When you discuss the genre/recognizable form you are choosing explain why you are choosing this genre? What does it do for you and your audience? How does it help you achieve your advocacy goals. Furthermore, what are the conventions of the genre and how do you plan on using them.
-
How are you advocating for change?
-
Who is your audience for this genre? Why do they matter?
-
When you say who your audience is explain as much about them as you can. How old are they? how do they get their information on a daily basis? what is their prior knowledge? What will you have to do to understand this group of people in order to communicate with them effectively.
-
-
What is the delivery system for this genre?
-
Are you able to provide research in your genre? Discuss any research that you used from your DL's to support your Genre #1 but may have not been able to include in the genre itself. Be sure to include textual evidence from those sources.
