Exam Prep-Short Answer

Some tips...

  • ​Be sure to answer all parts of the question.

  • Your in-class discussion response should be as complete as you can make it. If there are five reasons why something happened or five elements to an explanation, you should try to include all five in your discussion.

  • Be sure to know the difference between concepts. 

  • Be sure to ANSWER the question...

  • Discussion Questions are all from the lecture slides.

  • Demonstrate that you understand the question you are answering.

  •  Be sure to elaborate and use full sentences.  You need to demonstrate that you understand the concept(s). 

  • Remember these are factual discussions, not opinion-based discussions and will be graded accordingly.

  • You should write as if for an uninformed audience.

  • Discussion that employ these terms and points in a way that reflect understanding is important.

Topic Review Guide: Topic 1

  1. ​​Explain how the legitimacy of government is related to political culture. 

  2. Define each of the key values of American political culture presented in class.

  3. Define democracy in terms of three key elements as it was defined in class and discuss each of these elements.

  4. Discuss how individualism shapes our understanding of the other four key values of American political culture presented in class.

For your 3 Genre Project, you will need to do research. This first one will be pretty basic since you will just be researching what you are interested in. Go to your Warm Up from 1/25 and start researching. Use the Discovery Log template found in the Integrated Assignment tab.

Warm Up

For our warm up today, we are going to play a quiz game! Partner up with at least one other person.  You can get into groups of up to three if that makes it easier.  (The following quiz game is based off Thursday's lecture.)​

  • Step 1: Make sure one team member has a phone access to the internet.

  • Step 2: In your browser, head to the site: kahoot.it

  • Step 3: Enter the pin number that is on the screen in the front of the room

  • Step 4: Enter a team name. Make up something easy!

  • Step 5: Enter player's nicknames.

  • Step 6: Begin the quiz game! You can use notes and work together....
